Echo Echo Festival Presents Tradition and Beyond, third edition

“I am so thrilled to be able to present the third edition of the Tradition and Beyond Festival. The third edition of anything establishes a pattern... the potential for the beginning of a tradition perhaps...

As before, the festival focuses on the idea that respect for and interest in traditional creative practice is a rich reference for artists working in a contemporary context. The primary attention is on traditional dance practice and how it is evolving in profound and marvellous ways through the work of many dance artists who have a deep a deep commitment to it while finding ways that the tradition may develop, adapt and change as time moves on. We invite exceptional dance artists and musicians to be in residence at Echo Echo Studios, giving them time and space to reflect and create after which they perform concerts of new work. We also welcome other artists who visit to perform alongside them. As in previous years we also have an exhibition in the Echo Echo Gallery space. Again it features artists who work in the strong Irish tradition of landscape painting. The artists also offer open workshops so you can participate as well as watch.
