About
OLD BOB‘S TALE
A STORY OF IMMACULATE PERCEPTION
TOLD IN WORDS AND MOVEMENT BY STEVE BATTS
WITH MUSIC ENGINEERED BY DANNY O‘REALLY (1998)
AND RE-ENGINEERED BY BARRY DAVIS (2015)
The touching tale of a man who has never thought of himself as in any way unusual, but who finds other people, literally “getting on his nerves”.
A flight into “nature” which proves less romantic than you might imagine.
A dream.
A dream of not being so alone.
Manic movement and hundreds of unconscious tics.
A dance duet for one person.
40 specially painted nesting Russian Dolls.
Beautiful melodies and twisted musical distortions.
Old Bob’s Tale is a one man show written and performed by Steve Batts. The show was the first production of Echo Echo Dance Theatre Company after it began its residency in The Playhouse. It premiered in May 1997 in The Playhouse before touring in Northern Ireland, Republic of Ireland and the Middle East.
After a brief appearance in December 2014, Steve Batts remade Old Bob’s Tale in 2015 by popular demand.
